“Tantum aqua?”, solo show, El Attico, Guatemala City

This artistic research project stemmed from concerns that the artist has been exploring in the last decade with regard to a non-organic material: plastic.

The possibilities offered by contemporary technologies have contributed to Katia Miranda’s research in order to summon knowledge in cross-disciplinary ways. This time her explorations focused on water.

Why water? In principle because through its horrific relationship with plastic, water fulfills three functions: to store, transport, and conceal this material. There is a transversality proposed by an artist who works in the city with issues that communities in the west, north and south of the country are delving into with great energy and concern. In our context, it is time to turn around, listen, and heed this interpellation. How could we possibly claim that this contemporary project lacks depth and impact?
